2020 Typographic Calendar Small Hand Printed
The design of this calendar is inspired by the typography and graphic design of the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus was a very influential design school in Germany between the two World Wars.
The numbers and blocks of colours in this calendar have been individually hand cut out of Lino. These are placed onto a template, rolled with water-based inks and then hand printed onto quality printmaking paper. The irregularities in the application of colour and small additional marks are not flaws but are characteristic of this printmaking technique, and add to the individuality of the piece.
The 12 months of the year are arranged onto 6 sheets while the colour scheme focusses on Complementary Colours–colours opposite each other on the Colour Wheel. The combinations used in this Calendar are Red/Green, Blue/Orange and Yellow/Purple.
To hold this calendar together, a black bar slides across from the top. To change over a month, leave the calendar hanging on its hook and slide the black bar off. Either turn over the sheet to reveal the next month or reposition the sheet at the back. Slide the black bar across the top again to lock in place.
I recommend keeping all the sheets together throughout the year, rather than disposing of them after every two months.
